So, for those of you who follow this blog, you might’ve noticed I didn’t do my usual mid-month post. That’s because I was deep in the middle of writing a sci-fi romance for National Novel Writing Month.
November is a stressful, busy month to begin with. Add to that the pressure of pumping out 50,000 words, and you have the makings of a depression sandwich. I had whole days where I refused to write. I had family stuff, day job stuff, author business stuff…you name it. I demanded breaks!
But I did it in the end. I cranked out the words. By my estimate, I’m only halfway through the story. This is my first romance – all my other books have a romance subplot, but the main plot is something else entirely – and I worry that maybe I’m being too wordy. Ah well. That’s for the editing phase.
Unfortunately, there is NO BREAK in December. No rest for the wicked! I have beta reading to do, edits on my final Earthborn book, and all the usual author business stuff to take care of.
And somewhere in there, I want to finish the romance I started during NaNoWriMo. I’m out of breath already!
I hope you’re having a lovely day. Now, go read a book!
