I ended up not doing the Goodreads reading challenge last year and am not doing it this year either. No big reason. Just tired of having one more thing to track in my life.
Laziness for the win! Or maybe that’s busyness for the win…
Anyway, I don’t normally review books. It makes me feel a bit icky. I only put star reviews (no write-ups) on Goodreads and I only post about my 3-star and above reads. I feel like, as an author, review sites are for readers. And yes, I’m a reader too, but I’m in a weird gray area since I’m on that site as an author.
My TBR is insane, but I can’t say no to another book. Lately, I get a lot of book recommendations from TikTok, as opposed to newsletter subscriptions. I love the reader community on BookTok. I hear about more books than I can possible ever read.
My latest 5-star read was found on TikTok: The Wolf King by Lauren Palphreyman. This is a fantasy romance (romantasy?) with wolf shifters, enemies to lovers, battles, danger, sex, and a bit of a mystery. I couldn’t put this book down. I loved it so much and highly recommend it. I have to warn you though…the book ends on a cliffhanger. There’s some resolution, but the story isn’t finished. I looked and there’s absolutely nothing about when book two comes out.
